AUs/OCs welcome just detail in an ooc note how you're configuring your character into this canon!
π ππππ ππ πππππππ β Maybe you zigged when you should have zagged, but either way, you donβt know where you are, or how to get back to where youβre supposed to be. Alternately, youβre part of the search party sent to go find the missing person, careful you donβt end up lost yourself!
π π ππππππππ β Whatever you did youβve ended up out in the forest after dark following after The Groundskeeper (or maybe you are the Groundskeeper). Careful, donβt hang too far back from the rest of the group, itβs dangerous out there.
π ππππππ ππππππππ β Sure there might be spiders and centaurs, along with who knows what else, but you canβt deny how private the forest is, and how easy it is to steal away behind a tree with that certain somebody.
π πππππππ ππ ππππππ /πππ ππππππππ β Maybe youβre after some extra credit, or just trying to suck up to a professor, heck, maybe youβre a professor trying to date a professor, or maybe itβs a full moon and youβre after some Fluxweed, either way, better be quick about it!
π πππππππππ ππ πππππ! β Death Eaters in the castle! Drama in Ravenclaw Tower! A Professor turned evil! An emotional exit and storming off turned cataclysmic! Dragons! Something serious has happened to bring you to the forest today!
π πππππππ ππππ ππππππ β A Rite of Passage? Or maybe you lost a bet or ran your mouth too much for too long. Whatever happened itβs time to put up or shut up and gain bragging rights for the rest of the term.
π ππππ ππ ππππ! β Whatever it was you were just doing, itβs time to get away, and what better way to make sure your retreat is covered than to cut a path through the Forbidden Forest?
π ππππ πππ ππ π ππππ β You donβt get why everyone thinks this place is dangerous, you love coming to the forest for some fresh air and creature spotting/hiking/bird watching.
π πππ ππππππππππ ππππππππ/ππππππππ ππππππ β Exactly what it says on the tin.
ππ ππππ ππππ ! β Go wild! Live your life!

IC (prose for now but can happily switch formats) :]
The wolf (sometimes called Moony⦠but not tonight; not in Their absence) hadn't been allowed Outside in so, so long. It wasn't supposed to be Outside now, either. But too bad. It had found its way. No matter how carefully they tried to cage it, it could never be wholly contained. It would prove that again and again.
But who could thing of the gaolers (especially Himself) in this Air, this Wind, these Smells of Trees and Soil and Plants and the allilluminatingmostholyMOON⦠He wanted to hunt, but who cares. He chose to Howl.
If prey were frightened away by the sound, that also meant they might just have started runningβ¦ and the Wolf could Hear that. It could Hear and Smell and Taste on the Wind. Its lips drew back to bare Teeth and drink Airβits most pleased grin.
It found a Scent that infused its Blood and took off after it.

She knew she wasn't meant to be out this late, nor was she supposed to be this near the Forbidden Forest alone, but Lily had been far too restless to stay on course that night.
Lily enjoyed getting to wander the castle after the corridors were dark and everyone had gone to bed, but that night the pull of crisp moonlight was just a little too much, and instead of recoiling from it, the nipping chill in the air outside only served to draw her out a little further, step by step into a situation she had no business being in.
The idea that nobody got to see the forest like this played over her thoughts, casting her actions in an adventurous light, urging past the line of trees and into dense woods teeming with hidden life.
When the sound of the howl broke through the chirp of insects, Lily's stomach dropped into her shoes, and without thinking she broke into a run, heading in the opposite direction that the noise had come from, her heart hammering frantically in her chest as she struggled to determine the way she'd come from and how best to get back.

A shadow moved in the leaves. Then two small moons were shining at her. The creature inched closer, moons resolving into reflective eyes; but the wolf wasn't growling. It just stared.
This hairless upright smelled⦠not like prey. It was⦠familial.

"Please," she sad softly, carefully, daring to take a step backward and hoping the wolf would let her go.

stopped.
The wolf didn't experience memory the way his Human self did. Remembering something made it feel present. And nothing but the present existed.
For a moment, the wolf remembered the dog and the stag. That one time before the ratβbefore the Human could turn into the ratβ¦ They'd had to take him down. That had changed something in the wolf's mind. The Humans said tamed, but it wasn't that. It wasn't taming or breaking. But it made them equals. Since then, they'd Run together.
There was no dog or stag or rat here. Just another Human. But this oneβ¦
Slowly, Moony started forward again. Head low, haunches even, tail high. Wary, not stalking.
He stopped before her. Then craned forward to sniff her hand.

Slowly, as though she were moving to touch a ticking bomb Lily moved her fingers, flattening her hand to allow the wolf to sniff at her palm freely.
Admittedly, some part of her couldn't help but wonder if it wouldn't spare her the loss of a finger too - but she pushed the thought away, trying her damndest not to panic.

This Human was none of these. Moony wasn't sure why. He didn't have the abstract thinking required to recognise that, unique out of all interactions, this was the one where Remus's feelings were so strong, they actually endured into the Wolf.
But it wasn't just that. Maybe not even majorly that. It was also about Her. Her own uniqueness inspiringβ¦
Moony craned forward a little more, sniffed, sniffed more, finding her scent so Friendlyβ¦Β enjoying his own amazement, tail wagging like the Dog's, Moony took a single step close enough to place his muzzle in the Human's palm. You're nice. We won't kill each other. Chin scratch please?
no subject
That relief vanished briefly a moment later when the wolf rest its muzzle in her hand, though Lily caught on and started to scratch the animal under its chin as it seemed to want her to.
"Hello there sweetheart," she said softly, the nervousness she felt evident at the edge of her voice. "Have you come all this way for a scratch my darling?" She tried to sound as warm and found as she did when addressing a neighborhood cat or dog and it was working, mostly.
no subject
Darling? It shouldn't mean anything to the Wolf, but somewhere, buried, Remus's heart thudded. Even this, the Wolf didn't think twice about it; just gave her fingers a gentle lick.
Somewhere beyond the gloom of the forest, the moon was setting. Wolf became suddenly aware of this and drew back, hackles rising, tail lowering, limbs tensing. He wasn't reacting to or threatening the Humanβbut it might look a bit like that.

"You're alright darling," she attempted, her voice shaky but kind, unwilling to turn her back on the creature, even though she was certain it was more than capable of tearing her to pieces if it wanted to.
It wasn't acting like any animal she had seen before, and its size made it all the more daunting and extraordinary, making her certain its nature was magical, and that there was a good chance it was in some kind of distress. She couldn't turn her back on it now.
