[There was probably a long period of silence before Sirius responded. Although, he didn't quite care about the elders, he did care about Andromeda and even Narcissa. They weren't always the closest or always get along but he still considered them family. Even if he had been disowned.]

You have to admit though that there are some... ideals and conditions that our elders hold onto with their cold and decaying hands that are old fashioned and backwards.

[A pause on her end, now. His response is quite unexpected. And she wasn't prepared for it to give her mixed feelings.]

I have no desire to have that pointless argument. Some things are bigger than ourselves. There are obligations and services we uphold for our society and our family.

[Will she feel that way when it turns against Andromeda? Though I will admit. When you target those of your own energy level (Bella), the fireworks are spectacular. She could do with upending, sometimes.

[Sirius isn't surprised when Narcissa dismisses it and he couldn't blame her, really. Those born into the family are given everything they could want (within certain guidelines of course). It was easier to simply let things be and not fight it. Sirius had recognized that and had tried when he was younger (much younger). It simply didn't suit him ultimately.

[It didn't phase Sirius in the least when she didn't make a mention of his other comment regarding society. He was well aware of how the family should be the most important but as far as he saw it, there was "Family" and then there was family. Talking about Bella was a much better topic of conversation compared to whatever deep-seated angst he might feel about being booted.]

I didn't get to hear all the details but I heard it was a sight to see! And Slytherin's team this year isn't the best to help with the points situation.

I'm sure I have no idea what you're talking about. And I would certainly never suggest that our esteemed Quidditch classmates are so bad at their own sport that they couldn't tell their broomsticks from their unmentionables.

[No one in the entire clan ever sees this side of perfect little Narcissa, except for Sirius and Andromeda. Possibly only Bellatrix could even guess that it exists.]

No, you would never. I on the other hand have no qualms at all. Merlin help them, the team is a bloody mess this year.
