The '20's calls to me… possibly their modern selves who fell on a Time Turner… or anything else? I have this age Lupin or this one ^_^
Also also, hopefully not to annoy anyone, but my kink for Tonks/Loop is to retcon what's shown in the books to make them a lot more… um… healthy/warm/equal, in my own eyes…? (Like the films do a wee bit) ]
no subject
That is a huge kink of mine too. ;D Or at least retcon some of that book six/seven silliness. If you have specific headcanons, please toss those at me as well!
And I am good with whichever age you'd like to play!]
no subject
Phew, I'm so glad I didn't cause offense! Bonus that we agree :-) Hmm, I think my Tonks-related headcanons mostly have to do with stuff that prooooobably hasn't happened yet, for our purposes…? Actually that's a good question: where in their canonical timeline should they be coming from? I'm imagining the speakeasy from Fantastic Beasts 1 as their destination, so it can be more character- than action-driven—just two kids out of time kinda dealing with everything but mainly being attracted and tragically cute.
Normally I'd keep Trio-era Lupin for adult Tonks, but with a Time Turner involved, maybe I'll go for Marauder-Era ^_^ Especially if we're playing with memory loss, the disconnect can just ice the cake!]
no subject
As for timeline stuff, I'm of two minds! I'm thinking maybe Tonks' first year as an Order member, maybe just before/after the battle at the Department of Mysteries? That way she has knowledge of him and so on (so she has a point of reference for at least who he is!) But I was also thinking, if we want to go complete shenanigans, maybe first year as an Auror? Preferences?]
no subject
Hm, if I'm using Marauder-Era Lupin, then he only knows Tonks as Sirius's kid cousin, which lends to awkward soul-searching at now finding her irresistibly hot while full-grown… I kinda like the idea of her knowing who he is, too, but I think it works either way—can just know him as Sirius's friend. (He was also a member of the first Order of the Phoenix with Moody, so that's another point of knowledge?) Sorry, I'm so unhelpful!
I still have the idea of a pleasant haze, knowing things are screwy but not too worried about it. (Remus will assume Sirius and James are behind this and doing it to get him to loosen up; like a dream-sequence more than problematic-need-to-be-serious-about-this-time-travel.)
Won't apply, but I did find this ole bit of headcanon—stuff. Please don't feel obliged to read, there will NOT be a quiz. ;-) The first bit coooould come to play if Tonks comes from after the Department of Mysteries battle, but I'm not married to anything.]

I can do a start if you like? And do a bit of handwave-y explanation/exposition to get them into place?)

Let me know if I should change something!
She's tired and needs a break. And a break is what she is trying to take, talking with Mundungus Fletcher as he shows off the trinkets he has..ahem..come across in his wanderings.
"Can't tell what this little blighter is, Tonks." He says, tossing a brass bedknob her way. She fumbles it but ultimately keeps it safe in her cupped hands, turning it around and staring at it as well. "Bedknob of course, bit of junk, but no magic in it is it?" He continues, but Tonks is only half listening now, playing with it absentmindedly.
"You can keep it then." Dung sees the way she fusses with it and decides to be magnanimous with his findings.
Tonks snorts lightly but gives a faint smile. "Thanks for that, yeah?" They chat a bit longer, the bedknob fiddled with more, and eventually part ways.
She makes her way to the room she keeps at Grimmauld, popping her head in and hoping to see a certain man with old jumpers sitting there in their occasionally shared space. But, as has been happening recently, he is no where to be found. Unceremoniously, Tonks plops on the bed even as she continues to turn the junk item in her fingers. On a whim, she clamors up and gingerly twists the other, far more ugly bedknob off and replaces it with her plain brass companion.
Another whim hits her, one from another time and another place. Needing the laugh, even if it's a chortle, she sits up and stares at the newest addition to the room. "How did it go, then?" A slight turn to the right and three taps.
"Somewhere that doesn't have these problems, if you please. And with a friend, if I can request that."
Tonks expects nothing because that sort of witchcraft, one with mail order magic courses and enchanted bedknob, are something from her far more innocent childhood. But it's a nice thought. And that's the thought her brain remains on as she drifts to sleep.
When she wakes up, while she is still in bed, Tonks is decidedly not in Grimmauld anymore. She's also decidedly not alone. Both of these things cause her eyebrows to draw together in confusion.
There's someone laying next to her, familiar and not at the same time. "...Remus Lupin..?" She whispers. Then laughs. "So this is a weird dream."
NOPE, it's perfect! PS Is that a "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" reference?? :-o \o/
(Incongruous with his mild appearance and reputation, his wand was locked in his hand; sharp as a dueler, steady almost as an auror. First hint that he did indeed hang around with James Potter and a child of the House of Black.)
"Uh… this… I'm… we're…" He blinked at her. (Wand not pointed at her, good for him.) "Hi?"
Why yes, yes it is! :D
She is still chuckling, more at herself than anything else, and pushes a hand through faintly cotton candy hair. "Wotcher!" If this is a dream, it's her dream, she supposes, so she's willing to follow it and see where it goes.
Looking around for a moment, she tries to figure out where they are. It's not necessarily any place that she recognizes.

But to hell with it. "Tonks. Is me. And you're Remus." The smile grows a bit wider, a little more impish as she says it.
His last question though..she has no answer for that yet. "Dunno. Want to help me figure it out?" Standing up, she stretches and eyeballs both Remus and the bed. "Should probably disguise this."

She pauses then, thinking about it and laughing, really laughing, for the first time in a bit. It only now dawns on her that Remus may only remember her as a child that Sirius spoke about, if Sirius mentioned her at all.
"C'mon then. Let's see what we can get into here." She reaches out to hook her arm in his and pull him off the bed and into mischief. "Mm! But first.." Tonks turns and unhinges the knob off of the bed.
no subject
The bed didn't turn invisible, but its colours shifted like an octopus's until they near-exactly matched whatever was behind them, from any angle. No one passing would notice unless they bumped into it.
no subject
Motioning with her head, she sticks the bedknob and her hands in her pockets. "What's the last thing you remember? Yesterday, I mean."
no subject

If she lets herself be honest, it's a bit sad too. But Tonks shakes that thought away. "I fell asleep after wishing for a holiday. And here we are."
"But where is here..?" That is still a good question. She looks around, stumbling slightly but keeping herself otherwise upright as they wander toward an area with people. "Not Diagon..and what are they wearing..?" It's definitely a different style than what either of them are wearing.
no subject
For all the questions Remus has—including why, he has to assume, Sirius's cousin he'd never met (Andromeda, was it?) is treating him like a friend—he decides to follow her lead. Always learn first before drawing conclusions, or you'll only perceive what you conclude.
He follows her gaze and bites his lip, trying to remember. "Looks Retro style. Like a muggle film… 'flappers'—1920's?" …And though it looked so much like London, a moment's silence let him hear people talking around them. "American accents. Could this be New York?" He was pretty sure he'd learned somewhere that New York, aesthetically and structurally, was modeled closely on London.
[ooc: When I went to London from NYC, I was disoriented at how it didn't feel like I'd gone anywhere, 'cause they're so physically similar. The difference hit me more when we returned to NYC and, first thing out of the airport, a woman and a cab driver were screaming at each other, and I was like "Ohhh yeah."]
no subject
"We're a bit out of place, then." She says with a wry smile at her companion. Looking down at her denim trousers and the t-shirt with David Bowie on it, Tonks realizes that she's definitely out of place. "What is that spell..?" She tries to remember the glamour charm from that part of her Auror training. "I really should have paid more attention in Disguises Training.." But paying attention to something that one could do without a thought was sometimes like paying attention to how one breathes. It's weird. But she does, at least, change up the most recognisable part of herself -- the long pixie cut of pale pink shifts, in length and style and colour. It changes instead to a bob similar to some other women walking past, the colour shifting closer to her mother's and Sirius' darker hair.
"Could always borrow some clothes if someone has them on a line." She says thoughtfully, but that's just an idea if they happen across something like that. As it is, cheering up even more because this looks like a fun adventure, she grins at Remus and links arms with him easy peasey, wandering around and taking in the sights.
As they pass one area that leads down into an alley, there's a voice that calls out to them. "Hey, you two. Why don'cha come over here for a spell?" But there's nobody that the voice belongs to. Literally, there are no bodies around. Just some advert posters on the brick walls, one in particular done of a woman in the Art Deco style of the time.
Tonks, looking confused, arches an eyebrow.
[OOC: They're both very different from my local San Francisco! My first NYC experience included a VERY feisty air hostess yelling at a passenger, then having a cabbie nearly run me and my friend over and another pedestrian hitting the hood of the cab with a LITERAL 'We're walkin' here!' and then 'You girls okay?' all in a very Brooklyn accent. NYC amuses me.]

She continues without missing a beat, so Remus tries to keep up. Especially when she threads her arm through his, and he tries to hide his
astonishmentbewildermentthrill?awkwardness.Remus stops sharply at the voice. He returns… his companion's confused look, as he continues sweeping the area. He carefully (subtly, he hopes) slips his wand back to his hand from his sleeve and whispers, "Specialis revelio."
