Bill looked to the tree he stood in front of and plucked a few more apples off of the tree, tossing them into the large basket they were working on filling. "Don't worry about your house, that's a silly reason to dislike someone." Though if he were pressed he knew his mother would be likely to raise a brow. She was well-meaning if not a little zealous in how protective she was.
"D'you know these trees are about three thousand years old, some of them, anyway," he said rather thoughtfully, despite the remark being apropos of nothing. He'd fancied El for quite a few years - part of the reason why she'd had such an easy go of convincing him to help her out when they'd been in school together. Apart from it being the right thing to do, he had little problem sticking his neck out if it meant doing it for her sake, and he suspected from the way his chest felt all light and fluttery while spending time with her then, she'd have little trouble getting him to do it again, or anything else she liked.
"You picked a good jumper by the way," he babbled, trying to act cool even as his nerves got the better of him. "Mum used a good charm on the needles that year, and," Bill paused and smirked bashfully in her direction. "You look pretty, Babernathy."

Eldrine would agree that after graduation, houses were a very silly reason to not like someone but she'd seen it happen a few times. "You're right of course. I don't understand the people who eat, breathe, and sleep their Hogwarts house after graduation." Not that it matters, neither of them were like that and she was glad for it. Sure she was proud she had been sorted where she was although her housemates weren't always thrilled with her.
"Are they? Wow," she said, looking around her at the grove then looking at Bill again. "I'm glad you asked me to do this - I've never been apple picking before. And I get to spend time with you which makes it even better." At the admission, Eldrine turned away so he couldn't see her blush at the admission and picked a few more apples from the tree.
She cleared her throat and couldn't resist the grin that spread over her mouth when he complimented the jumper and called her Babernathy.
Merlin, he was cute.
"Thank you, I thought it may be chilly out and I got it from you so... perfect timing," Eldrine shot him a teasing look. "You look handsome, Bill. You always do."
