[ It was the epiphany of one (1) ginger-headed genius that while they might have to make rounds as prefects, they weren't assigned rounds every single night and nobody but the other prefects knew what those rounds were.

Therefore, the evenings could be theirs to use as they pleased.

Lily wasn't a rule-breaker, but she saw very little wrong with some harmless thinking around things. Didn't mastery applications all stress creative thinking anyway?

So it was for the greater good that she slipped down to the almost empty common room in the dead of night, before circling the side of the sofa that was set in front of the hearth to gently lift whatever it was he was holding out of his hands. ]

[ Her voice was plain but the grin on her face was pure magic, barely hesitating before she climbed over the armrest of the couch, repeating his name a second time, a little more demandingly than the first. Settling herself rather unceremoniously in his lap Lily looked up at him, eyebrows raised, still beaming. ]

( His book is lifted up and away, leaving Remus blinking into the firelight before him for a second. This isn't a new occurrence and he's used to people just yanking his reading material from him. The second Lily speaks though, he's smiling. His arms come up instinctively, wrapping around her waist to help her keep her balance. It doesn't stop him immediately flushing a dark red though, teenage hormones a rush at the intimacy. )

( He ducks his head before stopping himself and looking up, smile still soft. )

I've missed you too.

( He shifts a little, lifting a hand to cup her jaw so he can kiss her in greeting. It's slow and lingering, the late night and the silence of the common room meaning he doesn't have to rush. When they part, Remus tucks a piece of her hair back behind her ear. )

( Wait, he said that. )

[ Something about the way he smiled at her convinced Lily that if he did it for too long her heart would end up pounding this rapidly for the rest of her life though that didn't stop her from settling against him as he wrapped his arm around her middle. Wrapping one arm going around his shoulders Lily leaned forward and pressed a quick kiss to his cheek, as delighted to see him as ever. ]

[ Apparently however many times they had greeted one another that evening, it hadn't yet been quite enough for either of them. Leaning back just in time to catch the way his expression softened, her thoughts seemed to skip a few beats before evaporating entirely, leaving her to smile rather giddily at him until he caught the side of her face and guided her into that kiss. ]

[ The ridiculousness of this exchange wasn't entirely lost on Lily who laughed gently before she tilted her head up and stole a second kiss. ]
