Neville Longbottom

He's nearly the oldest in Gryffindor House now, so Professor left him in charge of making sure the new students are settling in okay, which - yeah. Nice try. He is trying his best, but all three of his new classmates are very obviously muggle-born, and therefore oscillating somewhere between disbelief and pure fear. Gods, there's gotta be a better way of bringing those people in, because this here doesn't cut it. One of the boys, he is thirteen tops, and it's abundantly clear that Professor scared his parents into letting him take him to take care of his strangeness, with no care in the world about actually talking to the child. Judging by his clothes, he was on a farm his whole life, and now he got dumped into this room full of books that he won't be able to read, and he swapped a screaming parish priest for a daredevil Professor who preaches bravery instead of warning about eternal damnation. The child probably thinks he is in hell already.
The other boy is more social, and at least trying to talk to some students roughly his age, and Neville doesn't feel strong enough right now to tackle a terrified child, so he turns to the third newcomer instead. This girl might be a little younger than him, but not by much - she's maybe sixteen or seventeen at least. Between her pretty face and nice clothes, Neville wonders how come her parents let her come here with the Professor, instead of arranging an advantageous marriage with some cloth merchant or land owner three times her age. She is eyeing the books in the Common Room, which makes Neville think that she either can read or is very willing to learn, and there is a kind of... power to her. No wonder Professor picked her up. She might have never held a wand, but she sure knows how to command a room.
"My name is Neville," he introduces himself as he comes up. "I'm the Prefect here in the Western Tower. Have the girls shown you your dormitory?"
