AUs/OCs welcome just detail in an ooc note how you're configuring your character into this canon!
π ππππ ππ πππππππ β Maybe you zigged when you should have zagged, but either way, you donβt know where you are, or how to get back to where youβre supposed to be. Alternately, youβre part of the search party sent to go find the missing person, careful you donβt end up lost yourself!
π π ππππππππ β Whatever you did youβve ended up out in the forest after dark following after The Groundskeeper (or maybe you are the Groundskeeper). Careful, donβt hang too far back from the rest of the group, itβs dangerous out there.
π ππππππ ππππππππ β Sure there might be spiders and centaurs, along with who knows what else, but you canβt deny how private the forest is, and how easy it is to steal away behind a tree with that certain somebody.
π πππππππ ππ ππππππ /πππ ππππππππ β Maybe youβre after some extra credit, or just trying to suck up to a professor, heck, maybe youβre a professor trying to date a professor, or maybe itβs a full moon and youβre after some Fluxweed, either way, better be quick about it!
π πππππππππ ππ πππππ! β Death Eaters in the castle! Drama in Ravenclaw Tower! A Professor turned evil! An emotional exit and storming off turned cataclysmic! Dragons! Something serious has happened to bring you to the forest today!
π πππππππ ππππ ππππππ β A Rite of Passage? Or maybe you lost a bet or ran your mouth too much for too long. Whatever happened itβs time to put up or shut up and gain bragging rights for the rest of the term.
π ππππ ππ ππππ! β Whatever it was you were just doing, itβs time to get away, and what better way to make sure your retreat is covered than to cut a path through the Forbidden Forest?
π ππππ πππ ππ π ππππ β You donβt get why everyone thinks this place is dangerous, you love coming to the forest for some fresh air and creature spotting/hiking/bird watching.
π πππ ππππππππππ ππππππππ/ππππππππ ππππππ β Exactly what it says on the tin.
ππ ππππ ππππ ! β Go wild! Live your life!
No, thank you! Also. I realized he mentioned knowing Remus knew his parents. /facepalm
"I've considered trying my hand at Arithmancy and Ancient Ruins... if Professor Snape or the Headmaster will let me change my electives and add another. Ancient Studies has also intrigued me," he admitted with a little smile. "I'm not sure if it's done here in the wizarding world but I know kids change electives often enough in the muggle world."
Harry fell quiet for a moment as he considered something that he'd been thinking of since (re)entering the magical world. "As someone who also grew up in the muggle world, did it surprise you to learn how much of the magical world almost feels backward? Such as quills and ink vs. pencil or pen?"
[ooc: so I guess because I mentioned him knowing Remus knew his parents, this is an AU of year 3? Lol. Or we can gloss over that? I'm so sorry!]

Being put in 'company' with Hermione made Lupin grin. He liked her considerably, but also supposed he'd been the Hermione of his group of friends. β¦Although the role within their whole class year had definitely been Lily.
"Yes, I wondered about that," said Lupin. "Especially that it was never talked about. Some of it, I think, was anti-muggle sentiment: eschewing what were considered muggle technologiesβthe attitude being, the muggles don't have magic, so they had to overcompensate; but since we do, we don't need to stoop to such 'shortcuts'. Or, without malice, just upholding tradition from before the split. It is true I think that demand plays a part; we don't need those advancements so we haven't been interested in them. I" (and Sirius) "also theorised that certain muggle technologies might cross-react with magic unpredictably. Electricity certainly goes erratic around it."

Harry nodded in understanding before glancing at him. "I do get that, electricity definitely goes a bit erratic. While there is a part of me that wonders if they actually knew what sorts of advancements the muggles have discovered and created if they would be interested in it but I also know the answer to that question." Many of his classmates, in fact, wouldn't and would sneer at it.
"Using a quill and ink is still taking some time to get used to," he admitted after a moment before he shook his head. "I'm much better than where I started, Blaise practically forced me to practice daily, but it's still an adjustment."

Lupin nodded in thought. "There are some elements of muggle cultureβ¦ some of their literatureβ¦ that to me explore concepts far beyondβ¦" He stopped himself and gave another, more rueful, grin. "β¦But I don't want to fall into the trap of comparing, much less competing. Anyway, you may have read some of the same things already. But if you ever want recommendations, let me know." As if the Hogwarts workload left much time for recreational reading. But you never knew.
"Blaise⦠Zabini? Very nice, Harry, I wasn't sure your social group would be tolerant of spending time with Slytherins. Though I could be projecting. House politics are always in motion."

"I would love to get some of your recommendations," Harry said with a grin. Since being at Hogwarts, he'd done his best to focus on his studies a bit more and understand the world he found himself in. At the same time, he also found himself commiserating with those like Hermione who had grown up in the Muggle world and understood (at least on some level) where he'd come from. Sure the workload didn't always leave much for reading outside of the curriculum but he always found some time to read something fun.
Harry tilted his head. "I realized early on how important it is to have friends or allies in other houses. It is why Ron Weasley and I aren't very close since he's less tolerant of Slytherin's... and other houses, honestly. I don't have a genuine problem with Blaise. In fact, he's taught me a lot about social hierarchies, and even though I find much of it backward, I have found some of it helpful to know."

Again, Lupin nodded. "They're good games to learn to play. Since they affect so much. As long as we remember not to be tricked into thinking they reflect the true nature of anyone involved. I've fallen prey to that along other lines." Sirius had had to work to shake it tooβthough it was more a matter of letting himself stop repressing the nagging rejection of the idea he'd always had. "I also wish I hadn't let Houses come between me and few a classmates, back then. I might have had more friends." (Or if he hadn't been so singularly fixated on the ones he had. β¦If he'd known in advanceβ¦?) "Some people speculated that Gryffindor is the House one has to choose, since people get into it who seem to have qualities of others. I was told I'd make a good Ravenclaw. Though I identified more with Hufflepuff. Being put in Gryffindor always mystified me."
