But she didn't.
What she did do was reach over, cooly lifting away one of the mince pies he'd added to his plate. Lifting it slightly at him in a wordless toast she raised her eyebrows expectantly before turning on her heel, slipping past the groups of milling teachers and students and disappearing out the nearest exit.
Like an idiot might.

Well, this night was rapidly improving. He quickly grabbed two brownies before following her out. Sirius didn't even stop to notice if anyone was watching, not that he'd have cared anyway if they were.
"Courtyard or do you want to check out the front lawn," he asked her with a raised eyebrow, although he figured they'd have to battle it out for some peace and quiet. Considering how many other couples were likely trying to find a place to snog or sneak a smoke.

"Are we goats?" Looking at him had been a very stupid idea that yielded only ridiculous remarks, and Lily took note of it, reaching out to touch his arm as they approached another corridor, "come on."
Lily turned sharply, disappearing down another corridor, listening as she walked past the empty classrooms, checking for a vacant one.
no subject
Sirius was not going to think about that touch to his arm very much, thank you.
He poked his head into one of the empty classrooms they'd come to. "Think we might've found ourselves a winner," he said when he didn't anyone else inside.

The reality of the situation had been slow to set in, and it wasn't until she stepped into a dark classroom, alone, with Sirius did she really consider the scope of stepping into a dark classroom, alone, with Sirius.
This was fine, she had better things to think about than the unfolding consequences of her actions. Slipping her wand from her robe pockets Lily looked down at her shoes, flicking her wand and muttering something brief. The rather stylish black heels she wore shifted back into the more comfortable, well-broken in trainers she usually had on, and she sighed with relief. "Bloody fashion spells, they make everything so uncomfortable."
Even though she had been the one babbling like an idiot Lily still managed to look at him expectantly, waiting for a flask to be offered, and certainly not anything else because that would be insane.

Sirius walked over as he reached into his jacket pocket for the flask he'd hidden inside. "Now that we're more comfortable," he said, opening it and holding it out to her for the first drink. "If you don't mind a little Ogden's finest."
Though, admittedly, he had other things other than sharing a flask on his mind.

A million questions percolated under the surface. Some insidious, inflammatory facet of her almost demanded she asked why he didn't have a date, but her sense of prudent self-preservation held her back from slapping her hand on that particular, glaringly red, button.
Extending her arm, flask in hand, Lily waited for him to take it away before she took a breath and the few steps forward it took to bridge the space between them, her hand moving smoothly through his hair as she kissed him.
no subject
Instead, he watched as she drank from the flask then handed it back to him. He'd just grabbed it when she stepped in closer and kissed him. Now this was a much better way of spending the evening with Lily Evans, if you asked him.
He quickly pocketed the flask (not daring to drop it and interrupt this moment that he was sure would never happen again) before wrapping an arm around her waist and cupping her cheek with his hand. He deepened the kiss and brought her in just a little bit closer with a pleased hum.

However good this poorly planned venture was shaping out to be, her mind couldn't help but reel over the prospect of what the hell she was meant to do, or say once this kiss ended and the two of them drew apart. As Lily's hand left his hair to rest against the back of his neck she felt herself leaning into him a little more, her toes curling inside her shoes.
no subject
He didn't want it to end and simply wanted more of this. The taste of firewhiskey would never be quite the same again. Not after tasting it in her kiss.
no subject
"So bloody stupid," Lily mumbled, glad the room was dark enough to conceal how red her face had become. Again, whatever it was that had struck her as that stupid would have to remain a mystery because it wasn't stupid enough to stop her from leaning in to kiss him again.
no subject
His mouth curled up into an amused grin at the mumbled words. "Very," he mumbled in agreement before leaning in and returning her kiss, deepening it slowly before biting down teasingly on her bottom lip. Slowly, without breaking the kiss much, he turned them around and slowly backed her up toward the professor's desk. It was a very stupid but brilliant idea, if you asked him.
no subject
Still holding the front of his robes in her tightened hand she tugged him just a little closer, pulling away enough to break that last kiss off before leaning up to nip at his lower lip as he'd done to her.
no subject
"You are intoxicating," he murmured after a long minute, pulling away just long enough so he could lift her up onto the desk. "This good," he asked, watching her closely, not wanting to be on the end of her wrath. Not when he clearly wanted more of this.
no subject
The question surprised her and she smiled lightly, humming out a wordless agreement as her fingers combed through his hair and she drew herself against him, kissing him again.
no subject
Getting to finally snog Lily Evans was certainly the best way of spending his evening. Even if, he was sure he'd be questioned where he'd gotten off to. None of that mattered though. Not when he was standing there in front of Lily and felt her fingers in his hair.
Sirius cupped the side of her neck as he returned her kiss, before slowly deepening it with a soft sound.
no subject
"Do you want to go back?" The question came mumbled against his lips, breathed out between kisses, and completely meant to be refused. At least, she hoped. It was stupid sure, but she didn't want to go anywhere.
no subject
He leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to one cheek, then the other before pressing a soft kiss to her jaw. Being here, with her, he didn't want to be anywhere else.
no subject
Tilting her head she let her cheek rest against his temple before she turned enough to kiss the side of his face. "I still think you're a wanker you know," Lily added after a moment, hiding a smirk as she nipped at his earlobe.
no subject
It was a moment, maybe two when Sirius heard a thud coming from the other side of the classroom door which caused him to pause. He hoped that they would move onto a different classroom and not bother with this one.
no subject
The thump broke whatever spell making out in a classroom had cast over her and she stiffened some, pulling away from him just enough to peer nervously over his shoulder and towards the door, jumping as it swung open, two students rushing in holding hands just as she slid off the desk, landing on her feet but bumping against Sirius as she did. "Right I ought to," clearing her throat as the two new arrivals looked far less mortified and far more disappointed that this classroom wasn't free, Lily didn't dare look at Sirius as she scurried past everyone and out of the classroom.
*end
He leaned heavily against the wall for a moment next to the door and started to think about just about anything he could (from his mother's yelling to Peter's snoring to his cousins who marry (and shag) other cousins). Anything to will away his very uncomfortable situation.
Finally, he shrugged off the wall and slowly made his way down the hall, unsure if he really wanted to return to the Ball or grab a quick smoke somewhere. His choice though was made for him by the time he returned toward the area of the ball. "Padfoot! There you are, where have you been?" Well, he could stick around for a few more minutes, he supposed.
