② Dress Shopping/Dress Robe Shopping - It's time to find that perfect outfit! Or have one mailed to you and ask someone to alter it for you if need be.

Lily finished an impromptu round of the dance floor perimeter after departing having caught sight of two sets of dress robes disappearing out of one of the side exits. "You were right," she muttered as she stopped beside him, crossing her arms over her chest.

"It was those sixth years. The Ravenclaw and the black-haired Hufflepuff," She looked at him and sighed heavily. "You win this round, I'll get up to start the coffee tomorrow."

When they had been students all those years back Regulus had given Lily her fair share of teasing over her duties as prefect, and how she was in charge of policing and utterly ruining her classmate's fun. That he now joined her on the fun police brigade was somewhat amusing to Lily, though she supposed he'd had little say in the matter as a member of the faculty.

She looked out over the crowd of students and squinted towards a cluster of Gryffindor girls, nudging Regulus's side with her elbow. "What'd you reckon? My money's on a flask or a poorly behaved date, and that's the support team come to do damage control."

Regulus was here not by choice. He understood his duties as a professor, but that didn't mean he liked all of them. Thank Merlin Professor Slughorn was still Head of Slytherin House and he didn't have to perform any of those duties.

He watched the group of girls for a moment. When none of them cast furtive glances, but a few glares instead, he said, "Bad date."

He watched a few more seconds, and it was a good thing he did because, "You might want to go see that everything is fine before someone starts breaking out the jinxes." He looked pointedly at one of the girls pulling a wand out of her clutch.

And then he followed the direction of the girl's glare to a group of three boys. One looked something between miffed and confused, the other two just looked confused. They kept glancing towards the girls, but didn't seem to notice the one girl getting ready to smite them.

"I'll go make a showing over with the offending male students, try to get them to move along before they stir up more ire.

"Meet you back here."

Holding in a laugh when she spotted one of the girl's taking a wand out of her little purse Lily nodded in agreement, going slightly nostalgic for all the times she'd been driven to do the same. Ah, youth.

"I think you're getting the easy job," she tilted her head towards the girls, who looked a good deal more irate than the boys did, and nudged his side.

"When you get back I hope you intend to ask me for a dance," Lily looked down at his shoes, flinching her chin up. "With shoes like that, I expected you to ages ago." After all this time, Lily had yet to get tired of giving Regulus guff.

Wiggling her eyebrows at him briefly she turned and moved to the crowd towards the girls, sunnily situating herself among them as she did damage control.

Regulus raised an eyebrow of mixed emotions - some confusion, some astonishment at Lily's boldness. The familiarity of the assertion along with the flouting of their rules to keep their relationship on the down-low.

So much confusion, so much astonishment.

But Regulus, never the less, went over to the three boys to see if he could get them moving along. He didn't think the offending date would make amends that night.

He was successful at his task before Lily was at hers, quite possibly because it was the boys moving along that helped her deal with the girls.

But true to her request, when she returned to him, he held out his hand. "Will you dance with me?"

It took a little time to soothe the girls, though the departure of the cluster of boys certainly helped the girls realize the apology that they believed (quite rightly in Lily's opinion) was overdue was unfortunately not coming that evening. Once the glum girl had been absorbed into her friend's consolations Lily slipped away, glad the poor thing had such good friends.

When she returned to Regulus's side she chuckled as he asked her to dance as promptly as she hoped he would. "I thought you'd never ask," she had seen a few of the other faculty members having a dance and didn't see the harm in it, though she'd make a point of dancing with Horace as well before the evening was out, partly because she adored the man, and partly to ensure Regulus wasn't the only person she danced with.

Lily took his hand and smiled at him before they made their way to the dancefloor. "What harm could a little dance do?"

Thankfully this time, surrounded by their fellow faculty members and most of the student body, not that much harm, but she raised her brows amusedly at him anyway.

Regulus took Lily into his arms, like the night in the Come and Go Room, if a slight bit more distance between them to keep up appearances. It was still nice to hold her this close.

"Do you want me to check the thoughts of others to see if our cover is blown tomorrow?"

Lily narrowed her eyes amusedly at him and shook her head. "Why? We're friends Regulus." She kept her voice low as she spoke, even if her words were completely true, however she felt about him they'd been friends longer than they'd been anything else to one another.

"One little dance, just like Dumbledore and McGonagall or Hagrid and Sprout isn't likely to ruin our cover." Of all the things, the way they passed the free time in the afternoon was far more likely to do that, but they'd always been careful and Lily didn't think there was any cause for concern.

"Just try not to look like you adore me too much," her nose wrinkled as she smirked at him.

"Yes," Regulus drew out the word, agreeing, yet disagreeing at the same time.

"But nothing stirs speculation more than two good-looking people of the opposite sex appearing to enjoy each other's company. And besides, no one would dare spread rumors about McGonagall."

Rolling her shoulders in a little shrug, Lily glanced around with a pleasant little smile on her face, seeming to take in the ambiance before looking back to Regulus. "So have a dance with Poppy and it'll look like you've got allergies and are trying to keep in the good graces of the two members of the staff that have access to Pepper Up Potions quite quickly."

She shook her head, "I don't think there's any cause for concern. You're forgetting out self-involved teenagers are, this is the one night they get to break out of their routines and do something fun and dressed up, they're too busy focusing on that to notice us having a friendly, platonic dance."

"I'm not worried about the students," Regulus pointed out.

It was the nosy fellow professors who they needed to be worried about.

Shaking her head she glanced around them before looking back at him, speaking quietly.

"Do you really think with everything that's gone on in your quarters in the afternoons, this is the most suspicious we've ever been?"
