② Dress Shopping/Dress Robe Shopping - It's time to find that perfect outfit! Or have one mailed to you and ask someone to alter it for you if need be.
③ Getting Ready - It's time to get ready for the ball, do you feel that nervous flutter?
④ Picking Up Your Date - Go and pick up your date, the ball is about to start!
⑤ The First Dance - It's time for the first dance. Are you ready?
⑥ Refreshment Table - Let's hope ~~someone~~ no one spiked the punch! We're looking at you Marauders. We see that flask, Sirius...

Cassie sat in the Slytherin Common Room and tapped her foot, debating on when to ask Draco. She knew he could wait for someone to ask her (and she had been approached a couple of times) but she really wanted to go with someone else. Someone she knew could be a fun date during the evening, even if it was platonic.

And perhaps she wanted to ask him first before Pansy or Daphne did.

She glanced up from her Potions essay and shot a look at him. "So, do you have a date already, Draco?"

In truth Draco isn't even pretending to do the work he's meant to be working on. He has a first year writing the essay and he'll copy it over later. He sees no reason to work on it himself.

So he's kicked back in a chair, chatting with Pansy and a few others. So when Cassie speaks, asks him that question, the entire table went quiet.

It's not that he hasn't flirted with Cassie before, but then he's flirted with others as well. Quite a few he's teased and taunted and yet isn't dating any of them. He can have anyone, why settle?

This is the Potter heir though. The girl who lived. He's thought she's flirted with him a time or two but he's never been sure, and he hates that part.

A pale brow arches. "No. Why? You asking?" Someone else at the table chuckles at that, taking it as him mocking but he's watching her intently.

Cassie didn't bother looking at the others around the table. In fact, they were the least of her worries and instead kept her gaze on Draco. She knew everyone in the common room was listening in and she knew if he said no, that she would never hear the end of it.

Especially from Pansy and Daphne. She could see it now and it would end up with her cursing them in their sleep rather than listening to their sniggers.

"I am," she said, plainly and as clear as day.

Draco knows everyone in the room is watching them. He doesn't look away from Cassie though despite the eyes on them, watching her with a lift of his chin. He can't say he's surprised, they suit one another well, but he hadn't thought she might do it.

The others who were glaring the hardest hadn't asked him either, after all. Not that he had any plans to be the one to ask them. He's been waiting and now it's Potter that comes to him. Well then.

Not that he plans to make it entirely easy.

"Really? You're finally coming and asking me?"

"Well, I haven't actually asked you yet technically. I was merely asking if you've already had a date," she said, catching onto what he was doing with just the barest narrowing of her eyes. Still, she'd anticipated that and to be honest, it amused her.

Neither of them exactly made it easy for the other. Just the smallest hints at flirtation that when it came from him was pretty typical Malfoy and when it came from her was bordering on sarcasm.

"Unless, of course, Pansy was just about to get up the nerve to ask you herself." She looked at the other girl with a cool arched eyebrow and watched as the girls' face reddened. "So that would be a no then. That's a shame."

"Oh then when you get the courage to ask me, do so," he says with a smirking, earning a sound from some of the other boys at the table with him. "We'll see then what I have to say," he says, but he's smiling and it's obvious that he's playing with her. Or so he believes it shows.

Draco snorts. "Who or who might not ask me isn't your concern, is it? If you're only doing this to flirt with Pansy, just go ahead and ask her."

Cassie smirked in amusement. It was clear as day to her that he was playing with her and she wasn't in the least bit upset by that.

She rolled her eyes. "Hardly. She's not my type," she said simply.

To her credit, Cassie waits until she's finished with her essay (nearly fifteen minutes later) before looking at him again. "Draco, will you go to the Yule Ball with me?"

He glances at Pansy who is glowering at him, and then to Cassie. "I don't know. I think you guys would make an adorable couple," he says, getting snickers and laughter and Pansy gathering up her things and storming out of the common room.

There was a chance if Potter didn't ask him, he was going to end up without a date. As if that was going to happen. He could always ask some Hufflepuff. Just to really piss off Pansy. For the fun of it.

He glances up then, arching a brow. "What? Me? Wow, I'm stunned and shocked. I never thought you were even thinking about that," he says with wide eyes, trying not to smirk. "You know what, Potter, I think I'd like that."

"Between you and me, I don't think she's attracted to girls," Cassie mock whispers with a teasing grin. "Which is a shame, there's a lot to be said for being with other girls." She gives a little shrug and watches Pansy storm out of the common room.

She'd made no secret of her attraction to both sexes but tended to lean toward men.

Her mouth curled up in amusement. "Great, looking forward to it, Malfoy." She packed her books away and stood from the table. "Let's just not embarrass each other, hm? We do have reputations to uphold and all."

[I may play with the idea of her being Sirius's daughter in this very one-off thread that we have. Because I love it. LOL!]

Draco can't help but arch a brow at that. "Did you try and go there, Potter and get shot down?"

Not that it doesn't sound hot. Not in the least. But he's not giving her the satisfaction of knowing that.

That makes him grin, giving her a look over slowly. "I'm curious to see how you clean up then," he teases, getting an elbow from someone else. "But I promise, I won't embarrass my family." Or her.

“I will never tell, Malfoy. What happens in the dorms, stays in the dorms,” she said with a little smirk. She hadn’t with Pansy (the girl was hopelessly hung up on Draco) but she and Daphne sure had.

Cassie smirked and looked him over. “I’m curious to see you let loose a little. You know we will have to have the first dance.” Draco Malfoy was a lot of things but the last thing he’d ever do is embarrass his family so she had no doubt that he’d clean up nice.

“Have a good night, gentlemen.”

"Wow, I feel entirely cheated right now. You're really a tease, you know that?" And while he's playing, the idea is hot. He can't help that. Not his fault they're both powerful and volatile. That's on them.

"Let. Loose. You say words that I know and yet they make no sense. Are you speaking parsletongue?" He pauses and then adds. "Wonder what that means you can do with your tongue. First dance it is though."

Yeah, he's pushing his luck as he salutes her. "See you then, Potter."
