For Carlos - Diagon Alley
Quidditch. They literally played full body football on brooms. Oh hell yeah. He so was going to make that team, no matter what it took. Of course, before he could get that far, he had to get outfitted for school. A new school with robes and wands and books and cauldrons. Most of it he wasn't even interested in, but he was willing to play it out for the rest.
"Okay, so we have two things left. Wands and familiars. I totally want a rat," he admitted with a smirk, tugging on Carlos' sleeve. "They say the wand will choose us. Wonder how? Do you think they have like feelings? Because seriously dude, that's just weird."
Pausing a moment before adding. "Do you really think we're going to be able to do magic?"

He smirked. "You would get a rat. I'm fine with Dude," he said. He was the only pet he'd ever had and had surprised the hell out of him. He couldn't just leave him back in Auradon! He was his buddy. His... familiar? Whatever.
"This whole place is weird, man. Have you seen that broom over there sweeping by itself?"
He looked at him. "Well if they don't have a wand for us, that will be our answer." Honestly? Carlos was a little afraid that was exactly what would happen. They wouldn't find a wand for him and he would be sent off... somewhere where kids with no magic but from another realm went. That was possible right? Or they could send him back... no. He wasn't thinking of THAT. "Trying out for the Quidditch team?" That was dumb question of COURSE Jay would try out! "Come on, let's get that wand. Then we'll find you the perfect rat."

"He's not on the list of approved familiars," he teased, giving Carlos a shove against his shoulder to prove he was joking with him.
Glancing that way, unable to hold back a laugh. "That's weirder than the fact the bank was full of goblins?" Hogwarts had given them money to buy their supplies, something else that had entirely shocked Jay. The bank had left him itching, just wanting to truly pull a few things out with them and pocket them. He had managed to control himself though. Barely.
"They didn't say that was a chance. Just that it would pick us. Come on, Carlos. They're not going to mess with you like that. They think we can do this, we can." Snorting though at that. "Of course! Dude, it's the gauntlet. On brooms. Of course I am."
Grinning then, he headed to the door the giant like man indicated, stepping inside as he held the door for them. Hagrid was huge, but he was nicer than anyone Jay could imagine. It was weird, but cool. A lot of what this world is was like that. Weird, but cool.

"As if we've cared about rules before," Carlos gave him a grin, shoving the other boy back. He had liked Auradon Prep, there was no denying that. But coming here? It was nice to have it just the four of them again. He suppose there were both pros and cons to being in this alternate world. He was not going to let the lack of electronics thing go.
Carlos laughed. "Nah, some of the people back on the island looked a lot like goblins if you ask me." He paused and gave Jay an amused smirk. "I know how hard you must've had to hold back that urge to pick up a trinket or two."
He hadn't even needed to ask whether or not Jay would join the team. He had known the minute they'd heard about it that he would do it. He wouldn't lie, he was pretty tempted himself. If only because it was so different then everything else they've ever done. Carlos stepped through the door and looked around the shop with barely suppressed glee.
Wands. They were getting WANDS. Okay, so he was a bit excited for one of his own.

"What? Rules? I love rules," he said, laughing even as he did, nose wrinkling.
"Yeah, your mother," Jay said, smirking and jostling Carlos as he said it. Okay maybe she wasn't the scariest thing on the island, lookswise, but close enough for the scowls.
Jay snorted though at that. "Man, you have no idea. But all I could think about was how fast are goblins. Once I know, we'll see." They relied so much on magic, he wondered how well sleight of hand and speed might do.
Boxes lined the shelves, going so far up to the roof that Jay couldn't even see in the darkness to where they ended. "Wow," he muttered, turning in a slow circle.
"Wow is right," said a man standing behind the counter, looking old and wizened. "And well well, the new children that aren't wizards and aren't muggles. I had been hoping you would come by soon."
We figure Mal and Evie have already received wands right? They went shopping already?
"Correction, you love no rules. Unless it's for a sport," he said with a laugh, and even then that could be debatable, he supposed.
His nose wrinkled just thinking of his mother. "She is like a goblin, isn't she? Only taller and more black and white."
Carlos laughed. "I knew it, man!" But of course he did, the four of them had known each other for years now. Of course he knew how Jay's mind worked. Especially when surrounded by so many trinkets that could fit in a pocket.
He took a moment to check around the store, taking in the boxes and boxes and boxes of wands. "Whoa," he said turning to face the man who he was SURE hadn't been there a moment earlier. "They tell us having a wand is a requirement...," he was only hoping he would actually get one! Imagine being the only one who didn't get a wand. He did not want to go back or be kicked out already! At least not without the rest of them.
